SKIN OF FIRE
WORLD PREMIERE THREE NIGHTS ONLY
GROUPE F
(FRANCE)
5 March - 7 March 2015
Upper Field, Auckland Domain
Groupe F, the much loved French maestros of light, fire, projections and pyrotechnics are returning to Auckland with a show specially created for Auckland Arts Festival 2015. For three nights from 5 - 7 March 2015, the Auckland Domain, with the Auckland Museum, will be the backdrop for the spectacular world premiere of Skin of Fire.
Last Festival, Auckland went gaga over Groupe F.
The Breath of the Volcano was a sell-out. It ignited our collective senses and brought us together for one of the most spectacular and dazzling outdoor communal celebrations ever seen in our city. Groupe F's trademark generosity, extravagance and wild theatricality blew us all away.
Metro magazine called it an explosive love letter to Auckland.
Created by artistic director Christophe Berthonneau, the focus of Skin of Fire will be on us, our environment and the effects of our environmental footprint when it becomes too heavy. Expect breathtaking pyrotechnics, awe-inspiring projections, fire and a very beautiful light show unlike any other.
The entirely original soundscape for Skin of Fire will be composed by the prolific American electro-acoustic composer Scott Gibbons, who created the sound score for The Breath of the Volcano.
Founded in 1990 by master of light and pyrotechnics, Christophe Berthonneau, Groupe F is widely acknowledged for their spectacular open-air performances at some of the worlds largest festivals, building openings and celebrations marking the anniversaries of cities and countries. Groupe F have lit up the Pont Du Neuf in Paris, the London Eye, and the Palace of Versailles. Theyve been a sparkling presence at momentous celebrations around the globe, from the opening of the worlds tallest tower, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, to the Barcelona Olympics and French commemorations of the centenary of WWI in Paris.
Skin of Fire is for people of all ages, and is a special opportunity for multi-generation families to enjoy an event together. It is an outdoor performance so audiences are encouraged to arrive early, and bring a picnic and rug to the Domains Upper Field. Tasty food at reasonable prices from a range of food vendors will be available.
Transport recommendations will be available closer to the time at www.aaf.co.nz
