a feat of super-human movement... you've never seen anything like this*****

- Time Out Sydney

Imaginative and intelligent, Akram  Khan's latest full-length ensemble piece is a mind-blowing dance work that showcases both his choreographic genius and the groundbreaking vision of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and his most famous ballet, The Rite of Spring.

Akram Khan's iTMOi lures us into Stravinsky's complex mind, a mind that transformed the shape of classical music and turned the on its head.

At its Paris premiere one hundred years ago, Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring famously sparked riots in the theatre. It shattered conventions about what was acceptable music and dance. Commissioned as a contemporary response to that iconoclastic milestone, Akram Khan's iTMOi exhibits equivalent whirlwind energy and vibrancy and is performed by eleven incredible dancers from Akram Khan Company.

The company has established itself as one of the foremost innovative dance companies in the world and is renowned for its intercultural, interdisciplinary collaborations and for challenging conventional ideas of traditional dance forms.

The dance language in each production is rooted in Akram Khan's classical Kathak and modern dance training, and continually evolves to communicate ideas that are intelligent, courageous and new. A group of extraordinary composers, including Nitin Sawhney, create pulsing sounds new to the ear giving this mythical work about love, marriage, faith and sacrifice, its rich and delicate poetry.

Like The Rite of Spring, iTMOi is a ground-breaking work for a new century - intelligent, entirely imaginative and heart- breakingly beautiful.
